A top official of the institute said that IIT-Kharagpur has come up with an innovative scheme under which its students will be allowed to use their rooms as their entrepreneurship offices. According to the director of the IIT Kharagpur, PP Chakrabarti, the new project would enable the students to set up their offices within the hostel room at a low expense.
On the occasion of Institute's 63rd annual convocation where more than 2500 students awarded their degree, director Mr. PP Chakrabarti made this announcement to delight the young talent.
"We are coming up with a scheme where students can convert their hostel rooms into entrepreneurship offices at a much lower expense instead of taking rooms in STEP (Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park)," Mr. Chakrabarti said.
In order to raise the global standing of the institute, the director also plans to have at least 10 percent faculty from foreign universities in the next five years' time.
According to the reports from PTI "two major R&D schemes were also implemented by the institution to streamline the partnership of various ministries and industry in areas of advanced high-end research at the academic institutions".
