M.Tech (Master of Technology) - Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

(1)  Admission to ME/MTech programme shall be open to candidates who obtain at least 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry sponsored) marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination from a recognised University.

• Admission to all the ME/MTech programmes shall be made on the basis of valid GATE Score in respective discipline. First preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates. 
• After offering seats to the GATE qualified candidates, the remaining vacant seats shall be filled on the basis of merit prepared by giving 30% weightage to 12thmarks and 70% weightage to BE/BTech marks (upto end of pre-final year). Overall minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry sponsored) in BE/BTech shall be required to be eligible for admission.

  Or

  In case MSc is qualifying exam, the seats remaining vacant shall be filled on the basis of merit prepared by giving 50% weightage to BSc marks and 50% weightage to MSc marks (upto end of pre-final year). Overall minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry sponsored) in MSc shall be required to be eligible for admission.

• Qualifying examination for ME/MTech programme is BE/BTech degree in any branch of Engineering OR MSc in Materials Science/Physics/ Chemistry (with Physics and Mathematics at BSc Level).

1.Only those candidates shall be considered who shall apply on the prescribed application form on or before the last date with requisite application fee of (Non-refundable).

2.The application fee can be paid online or through Demand Draft (DD) in favour of Thapar University payable at Patiala.In case, application fee paid through DD then Application Form along withDD should reach “In-charge Admission Cell, Thapar University, Patiala-147004” on or before last date.

3.Online counsellings are conducted after getting the applications online where seats are allocated.
Then, in-person counsellings are conducted where seat allocation and documentation checking is done.
