Vision & Mission

Vision

Department of Mathematics aims at empowering women with a greater belief in their own abilities to assess themselves and their circumstances, find a way of dealing with difficulties and offer solution. The department also envisions its students to be so strong willed that they will be writing their own and Nations’ destiny.

Mission

Department of Mathematics aims at providing quality education to students which will motivate them to serve humanity, have integrity and dedication, to be ready to merge individual into group initiatives and build up measures of integration in the face of pressures for differentiation.

The Mandate

The Department of Mathematics(PG &SF), PSGR Krishnammal College for women with 14 Faculty members and Head of the department along with Dean, Mathematical Sciences for PG 120 students and I B.Sc Mathematics 60 students functions and taking allied Mathematics for all UG disciplines with following objectives

  • Strengthening the students in the direction of logical thinking, analysis and execution
  • Streamlining the students to become Masters in Mathematics
  • Framing the right curriculum in consonance with changing trends
  • Conducting various competitions every year to bring out the inherent skills of students such as originality, creativity, team spirit, individuality etc through mathematics association
  • Organizing seminars that unfold various trend and nuances of Mathematics.
  • Celebrating ‘Ramanujan’s Day’ every year in the month of December to honour the memory of the great Indian Mathematician
  • Preparing students to participate in seminar, guest lecture, workshop, paper presentation, quiz, cultural programmes, debate and contribution of articles to various magazines
  • Providing an atmosphere of self-learning to boost individual’s self confidence and self esteem through class room seminars, group projects at UG level, individual projects at PG level
  • Reaching out to the society through community oriented programs
  • Enriching the learning experiences through Industrial visits/ Educational Tours
  • Train all UG and PG discipline students in strong Mathematical background to enhance and apply their skills to find solutions to their specific field.

Admission Policy and Process

The admission shall be made purely on the basis of merit subject to the rules of reservation of the Government of Tamilnadu. The following certificates in original have to be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission.

  • Original mark statement issued by the examination authority
  • Provisional Certificate (for PG admission)
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Community Certificate
  • One set of attested photocopies of the above certificates
