M.A (Master of Arts) - English Language and communication

The central objective is to empower students by honing their communication skills so that they can meet the requirements of employment and face the challenges of modern society with ease.

The M.A. English Language and Communication offered by the Dept. of English, Hindustan University comprises 20 courses spread over 4 semesters in 2 years. Out of these 12 are core papers and 8 are electives.

The curriculum maintains a fine balance between the language and literature courses.

One of the core papers in every semester focuses on features related to Language, e.g. Teaching of English, History of English Language, Linguistics etc.

Electives offer a wide range of choices like papers on Personality Development, Children's Literature, Women's Writing, Film studies, Canadian Literature etc.

Papers like Criticism and Theory and Indian Aesthetics are introduced to develop core skills like analytical thinking

The curriculum also maintains a balance between traditional and modern texts so that the study facilitates an understanding of different cultures and the literary styles.

The curriculum is so designed that at the end of 4 semesters the candidate would certainly have acquired the required skills and would be ready for employment in a variety of fields.

Regular Degree Students

Hindustan University takes into consideration students who have passed their Higher Secondary Examination with commendable marks for admission. The University strictly follows the eligibility criteria of the State Government. Admissions for P. G. Courses are made through entrance test, group discussions and personal interview.

Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science Engineering Entrance Examination (HITSEEE)

An online Entrance Examination (HITSEEE) is conducted every year at various cities across India. Students seeking admission for undergraduate programmes have to register online to appear for the Entrance Examination on dates specified in the advertisements. The time duration of the entrance examination is 2 hours. Students are required to answer 120 questions covering Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Based on the entrance examination score and marks in the qualifying examination, a rank list is prepared for admission into U.G (Engineering & Technology) Programmes.

How to Apply

Students, having the qualifying marks, can apply to any one of the undergraduate programmes offered by the University. The applications should be submitted at the admission office before the deadline mentioned in the advertisement. This does not apply for those who apply for non-professional programmes and research related courses.

Special Admission Programmes

The University recognizes the need for providing educational opportunities for people of widely varying ages and backgrounds. Therefore, special admission programmes are available for potentially successful students from disadvantaged, culturally deprived, or economically impoverished segments of society. Students who are initially enrolled at Hindustan University but did not attend the particular semester/term can re-enrol, provided they left in good conduct and have not enrolled in any other institution after leaving Hindustan University. Such students may be readmitted by submitting a Readmission Form. Students who have been dismissed either from Hindustan University or any other institution will not be readmitted under any circumstances.

Admission of International Students

Prior to admission an International student must:

•       Obtain an application form and brochure from the University Office and submit the filled application form with.

•       Copy of educational records documenting all previous secondary and post-secondary schooling / college.

•       A financial statement that has been signed and returned from a sponsor showing that adequate funds will be available to cover the student’s educational and living expenses for the duration of the anticipated enrolment.

•       Proof of proficiency in English language

•       A certificate showing no criminal record

•       Copy of the passport with minimum one year validity

•       A medical certificate from a registered physician

•       The certificate of eligibility for a visa is issued on fulfilment of all the

above mentioned procedures
